Safe drinking water is scare in arid, semiarid, and coastal areas even though without proper drinking water it is impossible to meet the essential requirement for supporting life. Also, presently, heavily populated area, like our Dhaka city is facing scarcity of pure drinking water and as a result, citizens in these cities have to take the tape water supplied in an unhygienic way from underground tanks full of microbes and germs. This water can be easily purified and drinkable by utilizing abundant solar insolation available in those areas.
Our initial aim is to design an automated system using renewable energy sources which will combine the work of a Solar Distillation and Solar Pasteurization inside a same chamber based on the preference the users want. Inside the project, at one side, temperature sensors have been used to give the instruction of inputs and outputs and on the other side, motor operated slides are used in order to meet the user demand. We also have set our target to make the system efficient in case of both costing manner and output.
Due to heat loss in several media, it was not possible to get the targeted efficiency we were looking for. Besides, as this project is also depended on the solar radiation, the ambient air temperature, wind speed, and the sky condition, the completion has faced significant changes in data. However, the improvement methodology has also been addressed with the project.
In order to accomplish the project within the given timeline, the group is split in hardware and software section. All of the group members have worked simultaneously to give a shape of the project as well as on techniques to make the project a unique one.
